While working on my bachelor’s degree I struggled with vocal fatigue. An Alexander Technique teacher worked with me in a workshop and I heard and felt my voice as I never had before. In those few moments, for the first time my singing felt full, easy, and authentically mine. Needing to know more, I joined a four year Alexander Technique certification course through the Contemporary Alexander School a week later. My passion is to help people discover efficiency and ease in any activity that they struggle with. With my background as a vocalist and musician, I specialize in working with musicians, singers, and actors. I chose the name of Body Tunes for my business because I believe everyone has the ability to tune into and embody wellness in their mind body connection. Along with teaching Alexander Technique, I teach voice lessons online and in my studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I hold a bachelor’s and graduate work in vocal performance. I am a certified Alexander Technique teacher through the Alexander Alliance and Alexander Technique International. I am on the faculty for Total Vocal Freedom an online and retreat based Alexander Technique program for singers. I am on faculty at the University of New Mexico for the musical theatre program. Recently, I have taught workshops internationally in Berlin, Mexico, Montecito Music Festival, University of New Mexico, New Mexico All-State, University of Texas El Paso, University of Alaska, NATS Rio Grande Chapter, and Santa Fe Opera. In 2009, she made her international debut with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy. Her notable opera and musical theatre roles include Florence Pike in Albert Herring, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Mercedes in Carmen, Terentia in Beautiful Bridegroom, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, ensemble in Zozobra: The Revenge, and Nellie Forbush in South Pacific. Darci has appeared as featured mezzo-soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Durante’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Mass in C, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Bach’s Magnificat, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Bach’s Cantata 161. She is the mezzo-soprano soloist on the recording of Brad Ellingboe’s Requiem. Darci earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from the University of New Mexico.
